What is this?
The Paddle Trail's annual 4th of July Kanufest event is one of the most popular events of the year. Participants can expect warm temperatures, blue skies and a good variety of paddling opportunities on the Methow and the Twisp Rivers (water level dependent). Paddling options over this event are dependent on the groups ability to self organize. While we aim to accomodate and support as many options as we can per day, you may be required to organize your own group to paddle a particular section suitable for your skill level on any given day. If you don't have a suitable paddling option, there is great hiking, birding and mountain biking for outdoor fun and a drive up to Winthrop is always fun.
Camping for this event in 2021 is "up in the air". Loup Loup Campground is currently closed and so the options are the Forest Service Black Pine Lake Campground (which will be crowded) or "open" camping on BLM land which means no facilities. We will try for Black Pine Lake but if we can't get enough sites to accommodate everyone, we may need to find a spot elsewhere.
Weather is predicted to be exceptionally hot, with temperatures up towards 110 degrees on some days. Please be prepared and bring a lot of water and drink it!
